  Benefits of the Scheme
Airlines that have been awarded the label undertake to respect Horizon Assess Air ™ specifications drawn up and recognised by government authorities, air carriage and tourism professionals and consumer representatives

Horizon Assess Air ™ was developed in response to concerns regarding Safety, Transparency and Quality of Service, and demonstrates an airline's commitment to relevant requirements in these three areas. For the Safety section, the airline must hold an air carrier certificate issued by a European Union country or hold an IOSA certificate issued by IATA. The IOSA certificate (IATA Operational Safety Audit) constitutes the benchmark for safety of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Information transparency is based on compliance with French law relating to the obligation to inform passengers of the identity of air carriers.
The last section concerns the quality of the services provided by an airline. It defines requirements on an airline's organisation, but does not establish the levels of service.

A unique Label
The label is, above all, a distinctive sign that enables consumers to recognise the commitments of airlines registered under the scheme and to differentiate registered airlines from those that are not. It is a sign of added value and trust for regular or first-trip air transport passengers. Over and above this sign of recognition displayed by the registered airlines, the label also acts as an innovative tool for consumers when choosing travel and air transport service providers. Consumers should note that a company registered to Horizon Assess Air ™ offers its customers an additional, completely voluntary, guarantee. Consequently, if an airline is not registered, this does not mean that it does not comply with safety standards and obligations in information and service quality.

A label designed by those in the know
Developing the stages of Horizon Assess Air ™ has been achieved thanks to a consensus approach. Many stakeholders worked together to help design this system; government departments, tourism professionals, airlines and consumer representatives. Each party brought the benefit of its insight and expertise to the scheme.

The Role of Consumers
Voluntary registration by airlines is a first step towards the success of the label, but consumers are also key players in the development and recognition of Horizon Assess Air ™. Consumers have the power to involve airlines in this scheme, to encourage the use and recognition of the label and to help it evolve.

A Transparent Scheme
To be a holder of Horizon Assess Air ™ certificate, an airline must undergo assessments and inspections by a third-party qualified, independent body, AFNOR Certification. The scheme process makes it possible to examine all sections covered by the label, to ensure that the airline meets the requirements. A certificate decision is made with the assistance of a committee using transparent processes.
